It is crucial to be informed about the environmental sins of our time because our actions have a direct impact on the future of our planet. Quiz questions on various topics
The Great Pacific Garbage Patch, also known as the “North Pacific Garbage Patch”, is a huge environmental problem. It is located in the North Pacific, between California and Hawaii. It is not a single, fixed location, but two large areas with high concentrations of plastic waste that are pulled together by ocean currents. It is important that we reduce our plastic consumption and work to clean up the garbage patch.
In the Global Recycling Day quiz, we also want to know how much carbon dioxide was emitted by private flights in Germany in 2022. You may not be able to memorize one figure very well, but you may be able to estimate how private flights compare to cars. Private flights are a form of luxury that is not available to most people. This, of course, promotes inequality.
In addition to private flights, we are also interested in another area in the Global Recycling Day quiz: Which sector causes the largest proportion of methane emissions, at around 45 percent? It is agriculture. Cows, sheep and goats produce methane as a by-product of the digestion of their food. On top of this, methane is produced when organic material decomposes in slurry tanks, landfill sites and sewage treatment plants.
