The New Zealand-born actor grew up in Australia and enjoyed his first professional success there. After his role in the drama “Romper Stomper” attracted greater attention, Russell Crowe landed a hit at the box office in 1994 with the tragicomedy “The Sum of Emotions”. A short time later, Hollywood took notice of the young star. He made his US debut alongside Sharon Stone in the western “Faster than Death”.

Eventually, international cinema audiences also discovered the then 33-year-old newcomer. He played a gruff police officer in the gangster epic “L.A.
