He is one of Hollywood’s most unusual stars, famous for his unconventional roles and his eccentric creativity. Johnny Depp is always a little wilder and more melancholic, a little funnier and more ironic, a little deeper and more sensitive than others. He played outsiders, misfits, outcasts and good-natured fools, focusing on characters who don’t fit in, who aren’t “normal”, who don’t belong.
Maybe it’s got something to do with his childhood. His family moved several times. He felt like an outsider. In 1978, his parents divorced and he stayed with his mother. Johnny Depp became interested in music early on and began his career as a musician in a rock band called “The Kids”, with whom he moved to Los Angeles. When the band broke up, he tried his hand at acting. At the start, things were difficult. Depp took on odd jobs. It was Nicolas Cage who helped launch Johnny Depp’s acting career.
Depp was given his first role in a feature film by horror director Wes Craven. He then took acting lessons at the Loft Studio in Los Angeles. Small appearances secured him his first successes, including an appearance in Oliver Stone’s Oscar-winning film “Platoon” (1986).
