Geography vs. geography: what’s the difference?
The terms geography and geography are often used interchangeably as they refer to the scientific study of the earth and its various aspects. However, there are some regional and linguistic nuances that can explain the difference between the two terms.

In German-speaking countries, the term Erdkunde is often used to refer to the subject that explores the spatial structure of the earth, its physical properties, climate, vegetation, population and similar topics. Some people use the term geography in a broader sense to include cultural, economic and social aspects, while geography can sometimes be focused on physical geography. In practice, however, there is often no clear subject distinction and the two terms are used interchangeably.
