Most people know that there are 8 planets in our solar system: Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. Until 2006, the small Pluto also belonged to this group, but since research has redefined the term “planet”, it is now a dwarf planet and no longer one of the big ones.
All planets revolve around the sun. It is a star and a yellow dwarf that gives us brightness and warmth. Without sunlight, life on Earth would probably never have developed. It takes about 8 minutes and 20 seconds for it to reach the earth.
However, the sun will not always exist like this. In around 5 billion years, its hydrogen supply will be exhausted. Then the sun will inflate and become a “red giant”. It will then shine even brighter and devour the nearby planets. However, this doomsday scenario should not worry us yet, we are more likely to have some on our planet.
To encourage you to play this astronomy quiz, we briefly present 5 of the 21 questions. You have to answer these questions, among others:
Which constellation belongs in spring?
Which planet in our solar system has no moon?
Which planet in our solar system has the most moons?
How long does it take light to travel from the sun to the earth?
What is at the center of our Milky Way?
Our solar system is around 4.5682 billion years old. Hopefully it will continue to exist for at least that many more years. In the astronomy quiz you can prove your knowledge of our solar system, the universe and everything else in 21 questions!
