Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart travelled to many European cities such as Paris, Florence and Berlin, always in search of performance opportunities and employment. In addition to Salzburg, Vienna was the centre of the Mozart’s life. Here he worked as a freelance musician and composer. He created over 600 compositions in his short life.
Mozart’s operas are still popular today: “The Abduction from the Seraglio” (1782) and “The Marriage of Figaro” (1786). “The Magic Flute” (1791) is one of the world’s most famous and most frequently staged operas. A cinematic version of “The Magic Flute” was released in cinemas around the world in November 2022, magically adapting the classic opera for a young generation.
His music is legendary and many rumours surround the life of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: He died poor, had many lovers and had a great rival in Antonio Salieri. The latter was taken up by director Miloš Forman and told in the Oscar-winning “Amadeus” (1984). But not all of these speculations about the composer’s life and death can be proven.
