The origins of “Little Lord Fauntleroy” are interesting in themselves. Frances Hodgson Burnett published the novel in 1886. The British writer, who is also known for works such as “The Secret Garden” (1911), created a character in Cedric Errol that has moved generations. The author also achieved fame because she was one of the first to fight for her copyrights, setting a precedent in the process.
But back to the actual story: In the Christmas quiz, we ask you from whom Cedric learns of his new role as “little lord” in the first place? It’s Mr. Havisham, one of the earl’s lawyers, who breaks the news to him. He also has other tasks to fulfill, such as finding out whether the Earl’s eldest son Bevis had a descendant who could dispute Cedric’s inheritance. It turns out that this is a hoax and we want you to tell us the name of the impostor. Have you been paying attention and do you know the name?
The novel “Little Lord Fauntleroy” became a children’s book classic. One of the many film adaptations has also achieved this. The one from 1980 is an integral part of the Christmas season. Every year at Christmas, the movie touches viewers anew. Above all, the message that kindness can soften even the hardest of hearts makes the story a true festive classic. And in this Christmas quiz, we ask you who plays the Earl of Dorincourt in this movie. The actor, known from films such as “The Bridge on the River Kwai” (1957) and as Obi-Wan Kenobi in “Star Wars“ (1977), embodies the grumpy but ultimately lovable Earl in an incomparable way.
