January: The month in quiz
In many parts of the world, January is a winter month with cold temperatures and snow, and recently also rain. People usually stay at home, where it is warmer than outside. So there's plenty of time to answer quiz questions and if they revolve around January, you can kill two birds with one stone.

Over time, we will add a quiz to each day of the calendar, provided that enough has happened on that day to make enough quiz questions possible. We started this at the end of January 2023 and, as expected, it will take some time.

Interest in other quizzes

 General knowledge Quiz en masse
 Quiz questions in abundance
History Quiz like sand by the sea

The winter month of January
The month of January is named after the Roman god Janus. There is no equivalent for him in Greek mythology; he was only deified in the Roman Empire.

Janus was the god of beginnings and endings. He is often depicted with two faces, one looking forwards and one looking backwards. This symbolizes both the past and the future. As the month marks the beginning of the new year, Janus is therefore a fitting namesake.
What is asked in quizzes about days?
In many cases, historical questions in the quiz are asked about a specific day. We look through historical dates and see what happened. For example, on January 23, 1507, the Scottish regent James Stewart was assassinated. Very few people will know this, but they may be able to guess how it first happened:

 with firearms,
 with the knife,
 with the rope or
 with poison.

Now the event becomes more exciting for the general public and even people who know little about history can work out that it could have been the first assassination using firearms.

There are many quiz questions about the events of the day. No one needs to have a great deal of expertise to answer the questions correctly. A little logic and the elimination of false possibilities is sometimes enough.

Ines Walk

January Archive - Quizworld

<meta property="og:description" content="January: The month in quiz In many parts of the world, January is a winter month with cold temperatures and snow, and recently also rain.
